Structures
Tensile roofs, architectural membranes and canopies depend on accurately joined panels and seams designed around the loads of the structure.
Welding solutions for tensile membrane structures
Architectural membranes bring together large panels, reinforcement zones and complex edge details. Forsstrom provides welding solutions for compatible thermoplastic-coated fabrics used in lightweight structures. The membrane specification, seam layout and handling of large panels shape the machine configuration. Process trials help establish how the joint performs within the requirements set by the membrane and structural design.

Suitable PVC-coated fabrics can be HF welded, with thermal processes available for other compatible constructions. Surface finishes and topcoats can affect weldability. Materials such as PTFE-coated glass fabric or ETFE need their own process assessment and should not be treated as interchangeable with PVC.
The membrane construction, overlap geometry, process settings and reinforcement details all matter. Seam performance must be assessed against the structural design requirements. Panel support and accurate positioning also help maintain the intended seam alignment during fabrication.
